Some Guy's Mission Statement
I have a simple philosophy. And that is that almost anything that happens to you in life can draw a direct analogy to an episode of "Seinfeld" or the 1986 New York Mets. For some people, this same phenomenon exists within the verses of the Bible or the couplets of Shakespeare. What's that old theory? That there's only x number of plot devices and they can all be found in the Bible? That may be true, and I'm sure a theologist could trace the stories on "Seinfeld" to stories in the Bible, at least loosely; I'm sure that somewhere in the Bible there is the prototype for a Soup Nazi or a Lowtalker, a Man Hands or a Newman. But for me, I don't need to go as far back as the Bible, or even as far back as Shakespeare. All I ever needed to know I learned from Jerry and George and Elaine and Kramer, and also Lenny, Mookie, Mex and Sid.
This Web site is a work in progress and always will be. I doubt there will ever be that day when I lean back in my chair, wipe the blogospheric dust from my hands and say, "Done." Truth to tell, I have no clear vision for the Web site. It's not thematic, I know that much. It's not about something. Like "Seinfeld," it's a site about nothing. Yet, it's a site about everything, a dumping ground for the detritus of my mind, a moldy fen of organic cerebral growth. And that's a really self-aggrandizing way of saying, "I don't know what I'm doing, and I'm not disciplined enough to even lay out a true objective for this Web site."
But I'm hoping it will be fun. And different. And filled with humor and insight and quirkiness maybe occasional profundity. I'm hoping it will take a seemingly random series of thoughts and actions and cohere them into some greater understanding of the human condition. Just like Game 6 of the '86 Series.
